September 12 -- Halle Berry's star continues to rise.

The actress, who added an Emmy to her Golden Globe Sunday night for her role in the labor-of-love TV project Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, is in final negotiations to star opposite John Travolta in the spy flick Swordfish.

Berry would play an undercover agent who works for spy guy Travolta, and, if negotiations come off, she'll receive a career-high payday of $2.5 million.

That would reteam the lovely Ms. Berry with her X-Men co-star, Hugh Jackman, who'll be able to showcase some of that Wolverine "tough but sensitive" charm as a just-out-of-prison computer hacker who agrees to help rob the government to regain custody of his daughter.

Dominic Sena (Gone in 60 Seconds) will direct and Joel Silver will produce the film.
