Stuntman Dies on Seagal Film Set
Aug. 28 -- Canadian labor officials are investigating the death of a veteran stuntman on the set of Exit Wounds, Steven Seagal’s latest action movie.
On Aug. 18, the fateful scene called for Chris Lamon, 35, and another stuntman to jump out of the back doors of an upside-down van, Variety reports. Lamon, who had been performing dangerous maneuvers for 14 years, allegedly hit his head when he leaped from the moving vehicle.
“[He] made an error with his footing,” Warner Bros. Senior Vice President Mark Reina told The Hollywood Reporter. “He landed badly and hit his head on the pavement. We are very sad about this. It doesn’t happen very often”
The injured stuntman received immediate care on the set by paramedics and was then rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull. He died Aug. 23.
“As far as we know, this is the first stuntperson ever to die in Toronto,”said Alex Gill, a rep for the Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television and Radio Artists. “Everybody’s pretty shaken up about it. We’re just trying to figure out what happened”
Exit Wounds, a gritty crime thriller, is being produced by Joel Silver (Lethal Weapon, The Matrix) and directed by Romeo Must Die’s Andrzej Bartkowiak.
