— -- “Independence Day” was one of the summer’s biggest blockbusters in 1996, and now Vivica A. Fox is back and stronger than ever in “Independence day: Resurgence.”

“We’re back and we’re going to be kicking some serious alien butt again,” Fox said on “Good Morning America” today.

“It’s 20 years later and she’s no longer working the pole,” she joked of her character, Jasmine. “Jasmine is now a hospital administrator. She’s mentoring her young son, played by Jessie T. Usher, who is now stepping into the shoes of Steven Hiller and becoming a fighter pilot.”

The actress said she even does all her own stunts in the film.

“There’s one scene where literally the next morning I woke up and from here down to here was covered in black and blue,” she explained, pointing from her shoulder to her lower back. “You know, I didn’t want anyone else to see it and go, ‘Oh you know, she’s faking it.’ So I did all my own stunts. From the ‘Kill Bill’ days, I got that training. It’s still there.”

Fox said working on the new film with Jeff Goldblum, Bull Pullman, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner was like a “wonderful high school reunion.”

“It was awesome," she added.

“And then we have some young, new whippersnappers from Liam Hemsworth to Maika Monroe, Jessie T. Usher,” she added. “Sela Ward is playing the first female president. So I love the wonderful merger of the old and the new.”

Fox also paid tribute to a group of men and women from the armed services in the “Good Morning America” audience to help celebrate the Army’s 241st birthday.

“It’s amazing,” she said of the occasion. “My nephew is First Class Private Marine Fox. He just joined the Marines. And my brother was in the Army. My executive assistant was a Marine, so for me to start off my morning like this, this is just awesome. I’m so proud and I commend and I salute all of you guys for your sacrifices for our country,” she said.
