The Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, was once a center of government, a residence of Tibet's ruler, the Dalai Lama, the site of a monastery, and a mausoleum for eight previous Dalai Lamas. It is a 13-story building built on 32 acres of land. (Max Culhane/ABC News )
