Best Food for Busy Women

Health Magazine Shares the Results of Its Test

These days, busy women are looking for convenient food options, but that doesn't mean they have to sacrifice nutrition.

Health magazine tested hundreds of foods in search of the fastest, easiest and healthiest options, and magazine contributor and registered dietitian Samantha Heller shared the results with "Good Morning America."

Breakfast

South Beach Diet Denver-Style Breakfast Wrap, $3.49

The wrap is 180 calories, so you could essentially eat two, Heller said. It's got seven grams of fat and lots of fiber. With egg whites and the whole-grain wrap, it's hearty and will keep you filled up. Heller always tells people that an egg-white omelet with vegetables and some whole grain is a great anytime meal, but for people who aren't going to cook, this is perfect.

Post Raisin Bran Cereal Bars, $3.39

These cereal bars are both tasty and nutritious. They're for people who get up really early and are commuters sitting on a train. You grab something you can put in your pocket, so you don't get over-hungry. These have a lot of vitamins, and only 120 calories and two grams of fat.

Lunch

Starkist Albacore Lemon & Cracked Pepper Tuna Fillet, $2.89

What's nice about this is that instead of people eating something unhealthy for lunch, you can go to a salad bar, get some greens and beans, and then throw this on top, Heller said. This is healthier than ordering out, and it's also a great midafternoon snack because the protein will stick with you. The whole package is only 170 calories.

Thai Kitchen Thai Peanut Noodle Car, $3

There are a lot of microwaveable noodles and soups on the market, but this one has only 200 milligrams of sodium, which puts it over the top. Typically, microwaveable soup has 700 milligrams or 800 milligrams for a small portion. This is a big portion, and peanuts are good for you.

Snacks

Kettle Brand Bakes Hickory Honey BBQ, $2.99

Yes, you can have potato chips, according to Heller. The Kettle Brand Bakes are made with real potatoes and only 120 calories and three grams of fat per serving, which is a reasonable size, 18 to 24 chips. They are very flavorful, and they satisfy that salt craving.
