Oct. 30, 2005— -- According to the National Association of Realtors, the typical house in the United States costs around $210,000. But how much that amount will buy often depends on location.

In rural Lavina, Mont., $210,000 will purchase 160 acres of peace and quiet -- perfect for hunting and exploring the local wildlife.

Collinsville, Ill. is the ketchup capital of the world and is the home to the world's biggest ketchup bottle. There, one can buy a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house for about $215,000.

Field Island, Maine, can be bought -- in its entirety -- for $225,000. The owner would live in total and utter isolation.

In Manhattan -- Manhattan, Kan., that is -- $210,000 will buy a three-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

But the same price will buy a tiny 235-square-foot apartment in the East Side neighborhood of New York City's borough of Manhattan.

Just east of New York City -- in the glamorous Hamptons -- $210,000 will buy you little more than a room. A sauna perhaps?
