
She says good companies realize retaining workers means being responsive to their needs -- which includes helping them handle rising fuel costs.
"It might be as simple as having raffles every day with gas cards where people can enter to win," says Johnson. "Anytime an employer has the ability to assist with an issue that weighs heavily in the mind with employees, it's most definitely a win-win."
Cockrell says his company is proof of that theory. Jobing.com says 82 percent of employees who signed up to wrap their cars in advertisements for the company are still working there two years later.
"It's kind of a badge of honor, he says. "I don't sweat it, because I know Jobing is covering the gas."
