This DIY rock photo holder is the perfect gift to give if you're on a budget or love giving homemade presents.

It's officially February which means it's time to start thinking about Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day can be tough if you are on a budget or can never think of the right thing to get.

This DIY rock photo holder is the perfect solution to those problems and makes a thoughtful and meaningful gift.

Get your supplies

For this project you can get everything from a local craft store.

You'll need the following:

  • Rocks with a flat side
  • Paint (White, Red and Pink)
  • Paint brushes/sponges
  • Craft wire
  • Marker or pencil
  • Paper plates/drop cloth
  • Stickers
  • Photos

Paint the rocks

Cover each rock you are using with a different color paint.

We painted one red, one white and one pink.

A big paint brush or a sponge works well since you don't need to be precise.

Tip: depending on the type of paint you use the rocks may need a few coats and could take a few hours to dry. We suggest painting them one day and finishing the craft the next.

Cut a piece of wire

Cut about a foot of wire and straighten out.

You can approximate the length when you're cutting you just need enough to wrap about the rock and hold your photo.

Loop one end

Take one end of the wire and wrap it around a marker or pencil three times.

This will be the spot you stick your photos in.

Wrap wire around the rock

Take the other end of the wire and wrap it around the rock as many times as you want.

If you want to see more wire, wrap around multiple times.

We wrapped the wire around a different number of times on each rock.

Decorate

Add some flare to your rock with stickers or glitter!

We suggest more hearts if you're giving it to your bae and more sparkles if you're giving it to a Galentine.

Add your photos

Pick out some of your favorite photos of you and bae to complete your gift.

We took photos with Fujifilm's Instax Square SQ6 but you can always print photos out from your local drug store.

Happy Valentine's Day and happy crafting!
