Oscar Night Style

In this first installment we meet up with the show's resident chef and food stylist, Karen Pickus. She'll show you how to make sure your Oscar party gets the right buzz with quick, simple yet delicious recipes that will have your guests wanting to give you an award for best host.

Recipes for Oscar Night

This cheese is so easy to prepare and so good. You can use any fresh goat cheese log. You will find this in most supermarkets. You can substitute cream cheese if you prefer.

To make the puff pastry squares

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Lay the thawed puff pastry sheets on a parchment lined sheet pan.

Cover the puff pastry with another sheet of parchment paper.

Stack three sheet pans on top of that . Place in the hot oven . Bake for 10minutes until pastry is golden on top.

Carefully turn the pastry.

Cover and bake another 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven .

Remove the sheet pans from covering the pastry. Let coolcompletely, then cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.

These nuts are great for parties, and so easy to make. Your friends will all want this recipe.Pass it along.

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Spread the nuts out evenly on a sheet pan. Beat the egg whites until frothy. Pour over nuts and toss until they are evenly coated with the egg whites.

In a small bowl combine the remaining ingredients with a small wire whisk. Toss the nuts with2-3 Tbs. of the spice mix, depending on the type of nut until they are evenly coated.

Place in a preheated oven and roast. Toss with a metal spatula after 5 minutes and continue roasting 10 more minutes and up to 20 minutes, depending on type of nut, until nuts are golden and crispy. Let coolcompletely before serving.
