Brit Heads to Hospital for Second Time This Month

Call From Spears' Psychiatrist Prompted the Incident

Dr. Phil McGraw, who made a controversial visit to Spears during her last hospitalization, told "The View" today that he doesn't think "it surprises anybody" that she is back in the hospital.

"If that starts [her] on the road to getting some intervention, then that's a good thing," but he suggested that it won't work unless Spears wants to get better.

Earlier this week on "Good Morning America" Wednesday, Dr. Phil said Spears' mother, Lynne, had reached out to him more than a year ago for advice on getting help for her daughter.

But McGraw said that he hadn't been in touch with anyone from Spears' family since the controversy over his visit to the pop star while she was in Cedars-Sinai.

Spears' life has been spinning out of control for about a year and a half, but this week was more action-packed than most.

On Monday, Lutfi revealed that Spears has mental issues. On ABC's "The View," Barbara Walters paraphrased a statement Lutfi had sent to her about how Spears "has been to a psychiatrist" to seek help. Later that day, Lutfi and Spears got into a public shouting match outside her home that ended with her crying on the curb.

Reports of Spears having mental illnesses ranging from bipolar disorder to multiple personalities to schizophrenia have swirled since the pop star's breakdown Jan. 3.

Since then, Spears has missed multiple court hearings in the custody battle over her children and has frequently been seen in public on the arm of Ghalib. On Jan. 25, Spears' lawyer scored more time to work on the pop star's other court case, in which she is charged with driving without a valid license.

Over the last year, Spears has been photographed shaving her head in public, furiously attacking a car with an umbrella and swimming in her underwear.
