Cream butter with 1 cup brown sugar till light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beating thoroughly.
Sift flour with soda and salt; then add flour alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition.
Pour into 9 x 13 greased pan. Sprinkle remaining brown sugar & nuts over top. Bake at 350 for 45 min.
