At least 60 million Americans will travel this holiday season, and the time to book those trips is now.
Dana Dickey, editor at large of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine, sat down with "Good Morning America Weekend's" Bill Weir to share some of the best travel tips.
There are many hot airline deals to be had. JetBlue Airways has launched a sale with special low fares available on flights to most JetBlue destinations.
"Fares as low as $59 are available between Washington, D.C. and Florida. Fares as low as $69 are available between New York and Florida and between Boston and Florida," Dickey said.
The low-cost airline will start flying to Cancun, Mexico on Nov. 30. JetBlue's fares start at $129 each way.
For those looking to travel overseas, American Airlines is the way to go. The carrier is offering flights to all of its nine European destinations, including Paris, London, Madrid and Zurich, for under $400 from Nov. 1 through Jan. 13, 2007.
Travelers looking for an oasis of warmth need not go far.
"Escaping the cold weather could be right here at home. People forget that Los Angeles can be a great place to go for the holidays," Dickey said. "Where else can you enjoy going to the beach and to a fine art museum in the same day?"
In November, the average temperature in California's star-studded city is a balmy 70 degrees. Dickey recommends staying at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to soak up the history and glamour of L.A.
"Since 1927, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has been the playground of luminaries including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe," she said.
Fresh from a recent makeover, the Roosevelt is V.I.P. ready.
"The lofty rooms are not ultra modern and the poolside, velvet rope-access Tropicana Bar is once again the place to see and be seen," said Dickey.
Ski-bunnies should head to the Park Hyatt Hotel in Beaver Creek, Colo. The newly renovated hotel is offering a multi-day "Ski Free, Stay Free" package that includes deluxe accommodations with lift tickets for Beaver Creek and Vail Mountain.
