Dec. 10, 2006 — -- Breckenridge is a 150-year-old mountain town in Colorado.

"I would say that Breckenridge is the perfect mountain town," Kristen Pettit, a spokeswoman for the town, told "Good Morning America Weekend Edition." "It's a great day in Breckenridge when you get up and it's sunny all morning and then the snow rolls in in the afternoon."

The town's annual Christmas tree lighting has been a long-standing tradition.

"We were actually able to put over 8,500 lights on the tree, which represents almost three times as many lights as we've had on in previous years," said James Phelps, the town's streets and parks manager.

Pettit feels that Breckenridge embodies the word "quaint" and that the town makes visitors feel at home.

"Our gas lamp posts have this great Victorian feel to them," she said. "They give a really warm glow to the town."

Phelps agreed.

"After being here for so long," he said, "it's more that Breckenridge chose me to live here, than I chose Breckenridge."
