Aug. 6, 2004 -- Jessica Simpson wrapped up the summer portion of her "Reality" tour with a stop on "Good Morning America's" summer concert series.

The pop star performed "Angels," "With You" and her cover of "Take My Breath Away," from her third album, "In This Skin."

The album reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts this past spring and marked Simpson's debut as a songwriter. Her biggest success to date, however, comes from a far more personal project in the star's life the reality show "Newlyweds."

Simpson's ditzy behavior and willingness to laugh at herself charmed fans and helped the show become an instant success on MTV. It's now in its second season, with cameras following Simpson and husband Nick Lachey as they adjust to married life and pursue separate careers.

The pair became acquainted in the late 1990s, when the less-established Simpson toured as a support act for Lachey's boy band, 98 Degrees.

Simpson arrived on the pop scene after starting out in contemporary Christian music, performing with gospel stars Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans while in junior high.

The Texas native then caught the attention of Columbia Records. She released her first album in 1999, before she reached age 20.

Simpson returned in 2001 with "Irresistible" and has continued to find success. She recently shared some of that experience by doling out tips on her younger sister Ashlee's new reality TV show, as Ashlee recorded her debut album.

Jessica Simpson continues to gain praises from MTV; her video "With You" is nominated for best female video and best pop video at this year's Video Music Awards.
