Country singer Trisha Yearwood can hit a high note on stage and in the kitchen. She shows off her cooking chops on her Food Network show, "Trisha's Southern Kitchen." Try her recipe below for Avocado Pineapple Salsa from her new cookbook, "Trisha's Table."


  • 3 medium avocados, diced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped sweet onion (I like Vidalia)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped pineapple
  • 2/3 cup quartered grape tomatoes (about 16)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Baked pita chips, for serving
  • Cooking Directions

    In a medium bowl, combine the avocado, onion, pineapple, tomatoes, lime juice, garlic, salt, red pepper flakes, and cilantro, if using. Add pepper to taste. Serve with baked pita chips.
