Peterson Speaks Out Year After Wife's Disappearance

Drew Peterson marked the one year anniversary of his wife's, Stacy's, disappearance by continuing to proclaim his innocence.

"It's no different than any other day, you know?" the 54-year-old told "Good Morning America." "You would think time would heal all wounds, but it's really not. So it's been sad from the beginning."

Stacy's family is convinced Peterson killed the 23-year-old mother of two, but he claims she ran off with another man.

"I hope someday she pops her head up and shows herself," he said.

But according to The Associated Press, Peterson said it was unlikely Stacy would ever come forward.

"If I was a little girl and the focus of all this media attention, I wouldn't be coming back," he told the AP. "Why would a little girl come back to that?"

Peterson, a former police officer, remains the sole suspect in the case but has never been charged, according to authorities.

However, prosecutors say an arrest could be near -- not only in the Stacy Peterson case but also in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Savio's 2004 bathtub drowning was initially ruled an accident, but after exhuming the body, prosecutors have said they now believe it was also a homicide.

A statement released by Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow said, "I fully expect there to be a resolution in at least one of these investigations in the near future."

Peterson was unmoved by this.

"I really don't know what they're going to do, but I have never been charged with anything, and I've done nothing wrong," he said.
