Teri Hatcher Helps Hurricane Victims

Net Profits from Hatcher's T-Shirts Go to the American Red Cross

Between a new season of "Desperate Housewives," a tabloid controversy and an innovative fundraising effort, Terri Hatcher has her hands full these days.

Hatcher is helping victims of Hurricane Katrina with a line of clothing available at www.presentsforpurpose.com.

Hatcher was unable to attend a recent network telethon for hurricane relief because she was filming a commercial, but she still wanted to help. She came up with the idea of selling stylish T-shirts sporting messages of "humanity," "courage" and "unity." All net proceeds go to the American Red Cross.

Hatcher also talked to "Good Morning America" about the new season of "Desperate Housewives," which debuts this Sunday, and the controversy surrounding the stars of the show at the Emmys.

"I thought the first episode was great and that's always wonderful to see," Hatcher said.

In the season premiere, Hatcher's character Susan picks up exactly where she left off -- in the same outfit in the same pose at the same time -- which presented a challenge for Hatcher's makeup artist.

"I went to Africa and then the Bahamas on our break and I got quite a tan," Hatcher said.

Hatcher was a bronze goddess on the red carpet at the Emmy awards last week, but an ugly rumor about her and her co-stars started circulating after the show. Hatcher missed the photo with best actress winner Felicity Huffman directly following the ceremony, which tabloids took as proof that the "Desperate Housewives" don't get along.

Hatcher, however, explained that she simply got caught up in the massive crowd at the end of the show, and didn't realize the picture was even being taken. She said she was sincerely happy for Huffman and took plenty of pictures with her co-star at the after parties.
