Tip of the Day: Getting That Million Dollar Lashes Look

Jan. 18, 2011 — -- One tip when applying mascara is that a smaller brush is easier to use and effortless to control, so you'll maximize volume and length.

Step 1: Start at the bottom of the lashes and zig-zag the wand from left to right. It's the mascara placed near the roots -- not the tips -- that gives the illusion of length.

Step 2: Pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go. This will separate the lashes

Step 3: Close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.

Step 4: To customize your lashes, use a small brush to go over each lash individually for desired volume and length.
