We want to turn now to a real favorite heading into last night. "12 years a slave." It did not disappoint. Lupita nyong'o looked great. Took home the Oscar. The movie, itself, took home the seminal award of the night for best picture. I had a chance to talk to nyong'o and the star-studded team behind this singular film after their big win. And the oscars to, Lupita nyong'o. That's my name. That moment of realization and then just like -- just realizing, what that means. You know, that I have -- an academy-award winner. It doesn't escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else's. I take so much to make myself care. I'm fascinated by the giving of awards for so subjective a thing. What, for you, what does it mean? Well, it means that my work is appreciated. It means that I got to play a woman, a character, in a real woman who touched people. "12 years a slave." Reporter: The film also took home best picture. They savored their winning moment. Including someone who was a part of both. Brad Pitt. It was a privilege to be part of the story. An incredible experience. But it was Steve that found Solomon's story. I dedicate this award to all the people who have endured slavery and the 21 million people who still surf slavery today. Reporter: For seven weeks, the crew shot the fill nm the 108-degree heat of a Louisiana hummer. Shooting in August in norpew Orleans, that was commitment. What part did that play? I think the heat was a character in our story. Ckudos to the background players in New Orleans. Reporter: Theirs was a commitment shared by all. It was a passion. We're all very proud of the picture. Very proud.
