Now, to the stunning survival story. A 19-year-old fisherman stranded at sea over a day, clinging to life in a tiny plastic bin. John muller is here. What a story. Reporter: What a story, amy. An incredible story. A young alaskan fisherman and his friend lucky to be alive this morning. When their quest for a perfect catch almost turns into the deadliest one. Look at this incredible image. That's ryan harris floating in the middle of the alaskan sea, in a fish bin. After 26 hours huddled inside, this is the moment the coast guard finally reached him, miles off the coast of sitka, alaska. Harris and his crew mate, 40-year-old stoney huffman had been out fishing friday, when an 8-foot wave crashed into their 28-foot boat. Both tossed into the icy waters. No lifeboats, no life vests and no radios. Harris was able to climb into the fish bin. Huffman eventually found one of the two survival suits floating in the boat's wreckage. If you don't have survival gear and you're in the water, this man's in a fish tote, which is what probably saved his life. Reporter: Meanwhile, the 19-year-old was floating further out to sea. I never thought I was going to die, harris told a local paper. For one full day and one sleepless night, he floated. I gave myself a pep talk. Repeating these words. I'm ryan hunter harris. And I'm not going to die here. And he was right. After his buddy washed up on the beach, he directed rescue teams toward his friend. Just a few blisters from gripping that bin and a small cut are his only injuries. And this morning, he is grateful to be alive and on land. It took several trips to find harris. It is truly a miracle they are back home in their bed. It truly is remarkable. It was such a small crate. It was blue, the color of the ocean. Amazing they found him. Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer kept them going. How about that? A little toy in the middle of the ocean.
