In february, boatwright woke up in this california emergency, in a nordic state of find. Only speaking swedish, unable to recognize his own face or even his son. Visibly emotional, he spoke to "the desert sun" through a translator. Translator: That's the name i knew that I had. Johannes eck. Reporter: Boatwright was found unconscious, in this palm spring motel 6, along with four forms of identification and a cell phone. The cell phone contained several phone numbers. All of which, were phone numbers from the country of china. Reporter: Records show boatwright might be a graphic designer. After several weeks of test, doctors diagnosed boatwright with transient global amnesia. Experts who haven't treated boatwright, says his symptoms can be more than psychological. It can be the symptoms is psychological. Reporter: It's not th first time a person has woken up speaking in a foreign tongue. In 2010, 51-year-old kay russell went to bed with a bad mi grent. And woke up speaking with a french accent. Her diagnosis, foreign accent syndrome. It goes way, way, way beyond my voice. Reporter: Social workers are working to get him social security and veterans benefits. And are looking for other living options in the meantime.
