But first the California youth pastor charged with murder after a man he fought with died of a head injury. He died six months after the fight. Pastor claiming he was just defending himself. Reporter: That pastor says he never hit the other man, he just knocked him to the ground in self-defense, but prosecutors say that's not the case but that the pastor punched the guy leading to fatal injuries. It's the pastor facing prison. I know I'm innocent. Reporter: This morning 35-year-old Robert cox faces murder charges, accused of killing another man during a sin city scuffle last June. The first thing I said to all of the students was let's lay hands on him and pray for him, because that's our heart. Reporter: Cox, a popular preacher. And married father of two, was leading a ministry trip last year and passing through las Vegas when its group stopped for a late-night dinner at a sports bar. They were in a parking lot when a businessman suddenly approached them, aggressively starting a fight and that cox pushed him down to protect his parishioners. Our pastor, rob, defended his family and he acted in self-defense. Reporter: That tumble turned to tragedy, he hit his head on the pavement, simply into a coma, he died six months later, devastating his family. The pastor's wife said he never meant to hurt him. I believe my husband is innocent. Reporter: But they're not buying it. Allegedly that cox hit the man. This is a self-defense case. So, the crucial questions are going to be -- was the victim actually the aggressor? And did the defendant need to do what he did to protect himself? Cox's church has started accepting donations to help pay for his legal fees. Next hearing will be in las Vegas on Friday. He's expected to plead not guilty.
