We turn to all the excitement at TV's biggest night, the Emmy awards filled with fabulous fashion, some big wins and an emotional tribute to robin Williams. He shot to fame as we all know on the small screen. ABC's Chris Connelly has the highlights from the big show. He's at the Nokia theatre in L.A. And wish you an early good morning, Chris. Reporter: Good morning to you, Lara. The Nokia welcomed lots of fresh faces but last night the best way to win an Emmy was to have already won an Emmy. And the best way to have a great time was to be Bryan Cranston. Live from Los Angeles -- Reporter: At the 66th annual Emmy awards there was a lot of love in the aisle. "veep"'s Julia louis-dreyfus getting a congratulatory lip lock from a former co-star on the way to accepting her third straight statue. Yeah, he was on "Seinfeld." Yeah. All right, all right, all right. At first best actor nominee Matthew mcconaughey of "True detective" was the man on everyone's mind. With a chance to add an historic oscar/emmy twofer. All right, all right all right already. The academy said the meth man win. Goes to Bryan Cranston. I'd like to dedicate this award to all the sneaky petes of the world. Reporter: His win, his first since 2010 highlighting a huge night for "Breaking bad." Its victory lap featuring supporting nods for Aaron Paul and Anna Gunn and best drama. Repeat winners leading the night, Julianna Margulies for "The good wife." What a wonderful time for women on television. Reporter: And Jim parsons collecting a fourth consecutive best actor in a comedy Emmy. Thank all of you, I mean that. It's very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in all of our lives. Reporter: Billy crystal paid memorable tribute to his friend and comic relief partner robin Williams. For almost 40 years, he was the brightest star in a comedy galaxy. Ty Burrell. Reporter: "Modern family" winning three emmys including best supporting nod forty Burrell Reading a sweep whin for him. I would give them a big hug but it would take me 20 minutes to get to their seats. Reporter: And the show itself making history becoming the first sitcom since "Frasier" to earn five straight best comedy emmys. "Modern family" has been a big, beautiful dream for the last five years and we thank you for not waking us up. Thank you. Reporter: Allison Janney won her second Emmy at her sixth overall.
