Reporter: Meet chrissy, a former extreme couponer, who ditched the scissors after a e-year run. What was the straw that broke the camel's back? Seven hours on black friday, going to cvs and walgreens. Reporter: So, she kicked the habit cold turkey. Any withdrawals? I'm okay now. I can walk past the drugstore without needing to go in. I think I've broken the addiction. Reporter: And now, she's telling all. Call it the confessions of an excouponaholic. Confession number one. Those freebies aren't so desirable and can lead to hoarding or stockpiling. Confession number two. Extreme couponing often leads to an unhealthy diet. You can't get fresh, organic produce. That stuff doesn't go on sale. Reporter: Confession number three. It is a time-consuming obsession. If you're going to spend five to ten hours a week doing something, get a part-time job. Don't spend it doing extreme couponing. Reporter: And she has tips to be, perhaps, a moderate couponer. Tip number one, make your list and stick to it. The key is to use the coupons on stuff that you really would be buying anyway. Reporter: Tip number two. Don't panic. Most items go on sale every six weeks. And tip number three, you can save big bucks on items like toothpaste, laundry detergent and shampoos. I love lip gloss. You can't get a lot of lip gloss for free. Reporter: Maybe extreme couponing isn't for everyone. There may not be a couponers anonymous. But she is clean, sober and reformed. As for me -- this is the problem with extreme couponing.
