Transcript for More Winter Weather Set to Hit the Northeast
That snowstorm blasting the northeast right now. Let's take a look in New York City. Look, just shrouded in snow this morning. Another brutal commute for some big cities here in the northeast. Ginger tracking it all. Good morning, ginger, out there in times square. Oh, I'm right here and I have the same feeling what that the olympian had. I have to show you video from not just here but east of Philadelphia where some of the snow was coming down really heavy at times. We've seen anywhere from 1 to 3 inches and the radar right now, this is how you'll get an idea of when it's going to end. In the next couple hours force a lot of folks but stretching from western Pennsylvania all the way to Connecticut this morning. You can expect another 1 to 3 inches on top of what you already had especially in parts of northern new England. Doesn't matter, though, even a little bit can create chaos on the roads as we saw overnight. It's another slip and slide morning commute across the northeast. And thunder snow. That wild, explosive snow dropping 1 to 2 inches per hour in parts of Illinois Monday. And in Michigan, a huge pileup along snowy I-94. Around 40 vehicles colliding. And while this latest storm is mostly misery, the months of harsh cold potentially saving seven people that were on that plane. Their engine failing. Their emergency landing smooth on the thick ice of lake Huron. The one passenger stated it was actually softer than landing on the runway. Reporter: And survival story in Ohio. This lucky kitten rescued after someone found him outside frozen. He had a good spirit. He wanted to live. That kitten aptly named frosty now on the mend with the local humane society. Hoping for the best for frogsty. We are all going to become less frosty. As the storm pulls away we have that maelle air right behind. The timing of it all gone for us by late tonight. But how mild will we get? It's a brief mild air. The February thaw only lasts a couple of days but look at some of those Numbers. Indianapolis close to 60 Friday, though, they drop down again. You know what that means between the two, we've got severe weather to talk about. All of that coming up in your nation's weather but for now back in to robin. All right, ginger. A few takers for frosty would love to adopt tail one. To a rough ride in the sky.
