Transcript for Hurricane Isaac's Impact in Mississippi
Thank you. Now, to more on the powerful floods swamping the mississippi gulf coast, thousands of people fleeing their homes. We'll get a check on alabama in a moment. First, abc's ginger zee has the latest from gulfport, mississippi. How are the conditions there, ginger? Robin, it's pretty rough. We've had some of the worst weather all storm right now. Our main threat is tornadoes because we've got tornado warnings swarming us throughout the morning hours. This happens a lot in hurricanes. Once the hurricane hits land, the friction slows down the low-level winds. The high-level winds go fast. Ingredients for a tornado. 55-mile-per-hour gusts and the driving rain. That's highway 90, a major thoroughfare, completely shut down. We drove it last night. Flooding was a concern. Not only standing water but all of the blowing wind, not a safe place to be whatsoever. This is going to continue for some time. That tornado threat stays with us throughout the morning.
