Transcript for Pranksters Apologize for Fake Kidnapping
We're going to turn to a kidnapping hoax, sparking outrage in Washington state. A fake abduction in a playground. It was all caught on camera. ABC's Neal Karlinsky has more on this stunt gone wrong. Reporter: Watch closely. This man is about to snatch a little boy from a park in broad daylight. He gets them him into the van and drive off. But what panicked moms and kids back at the park didn't realize, it was all staged. Part of a hoax. The fake kidnappers came back, revealing that the lilt boy is a relative. They should have not gave you permission to do that. She's -- what if they take me? Reporter: Now, police are investigating whether cousins Jason and Jesse holden should be charged with a crime. This morning, in a "Gma" exclusive, the two hoaxsters admit, they made a huge mistake. We want to make an apology to everybody that was there. And everyone with their kids there and everything. We didn't picture it having that kind of an impact. It's hard for me to watch it. I feel a lot of shame when I watch it. Reporter: They say they told police before they did it. And but word didn't get through to everyone. They're thankful the officer that flagged down their car didn't shoot them. The they say the idea was to raise awareness about child abductions. But they admit it was to get traffic to their prank-filled youtube page. The two say they won't stop making videos. But they'll trif to be smarter about them. For "Good morning America," Neal Karlinsky, ABC news, Seattle.
