both. We're going to turn to Donald sterling, fighting back against the NBA this morning. Sterling's lawyer says he will not pay the league's fine, laying the groundwork for a possible lawsuit. ABC's Ryan smith is here with the latest. Good morning, Ryan. Reporter: Good morning, George. This is what we have learned. ABC news has confirmed that Donald sterling fired off a letter to the NBA, through his lawyers, big-time antitrust lawyers, threatening to sue. Saying he has done nothing wrong. He's not going to pay the $2.5 million fine asseted by the NBA. And the letter says it will be adjudicated. And it usually means a lawsuit is coming. He is clearly digging in. But the NBA has a lot of firepower, too. How are they going to respond? Reporter: They will respond swiftly and say they did everything by the book. We have the right to do this. We have the right to assess this kind of fine and they have a lot of backup for that. They essentially have this power under the constitution and bylaws. Sterling signed a contract saying I will abide by the league system of justice. Reporter: Right. But he can argue in the courts, they were arbitrary and capricious the way they assessed this fine. That's a long shot for him not to pay this fine. Wow. Big battle ahead. Ryan, thanks very much.
