Applause, is available now. The full album, art pop, is RELEASED NOVEMBER 11th. Can we chat for a little bit? Of course. I love your little monsters. They look so cute. They were a part of the performance. We were excited when you were here a couple of weeks ago. What was it like to perform the song? I love performing. I prefer this. I do. I love being on stage. I -- you know, I love "good morning america" so much. I just wanted the fans to be part of the performance. Because they don't usually get to do that. So they're poppies. Yes. I hope you don't all fall asleep. Remember poppies? Oh, no, no. No chance of that with this atmosphere. We're so philadelphia glad you're doing well from your surgery. A year and a half of the new m music. You must be happy to be here. It's been five years since i came out with just dance. I can't believe my life and i can't believe that I get to tour the world and write my own music and, have my own artistic freedom and I have that because my fans really believe in me and they support me. And I appreciate that. in that freedom brings so much joy to so many. What made you decide to bring dorothy to life? In such an inventive way? It's an explanation in a way for my entire career so far. Even with the "gma" performance and the transformations happening today, it's like my way of saying all of these outfits and wigs that I have been changing in over the years, this is my way of assimilating and surviving. This is my way of getting to oz. My way of getting to oz, to have all my dreams come true. Whatever we had to do to get past the evil monkeys from the west and get past in the wicket witch, dorothy was able to transform in order to survive. By transforming into glinda and at the end back into the wizard, who was just dorothy herself, me. You express yourself so well and you help us understand. This is something this is personal. Is it true you tried to get -- that in eighth grade, you were up for the part of dorothy and you didn't get it? Well, it was kind of communist at my school. If you were in the eighth grade, you could only get a munchkin part. Ninth grade, a little better part. All the seniors had the big roles. I was fine. I was one of the lollipop girls. So look at you now, baby. I haven't strayed too far, i guess. Your folks said you performed eight songs off the album in london. A lot of artists are secretive. You're putting it out there before it happens in just a few weeks. In november. I want to ask you, and the fans want to know, "art pop" so different than "born this way." Can you explain? Every person in their lives goes through so many tint things. I was going through hard time in "born this way." I was insecure. I became a star quickly. I didn't have time to put my feet in the ground and have a sense of myself through it all. Because it's like a machine. You just keep going. THERE'S TVs AND PICTURES, AND Lovely fan everywhere that i wanted to hug and sign autographs for. There was a lot of me putting things on to hide the sadness. The record reflected that. I'm feel something positive and healed in a lot of ways. I feel overjoyed and pull of love. I'm obsessed with making things colorful and happy. I think it's because I'm in a happy place. When I'm in a happy place, the music is. My fans, I have to thank them for that. Because no matter what I go through and no matter how i evo evolve, they always stand by me. They appreciate my point of view. And, that's what "art pop" is about. I want them to appreciate their points of view. And when they're harnessing their talents, I want you to know that they're important. And just because you want to be an artist and maybe not a doctor or a nurse or teacher, it doesn't mean that it's less than that. It doesn't mean that you still can't survive. In fact in the economy that we live in, it's actually wonderful to have a niche business that has specialized things to offer. It's much more lucrative in the future. Please. Express your talents. Show who you are. Mama has spoken. She has spoken. you have been so good to us and so good to your audience. Just your authenticity. We're so happy for you. Thank you for bringing that light to us here on "gma." Thank you. And thank you for letting me be
