Transcript for Mitt Romney Campaign: How Do They Get Back on Message?
strategy from abc's jon karl in washington. I like how politico summed up the new strategy, more mitt. Reporter: That's right. And the bottom line, george, they have to get back on message. Romney has lost control of his campaign over the last two weeks, not getting out his central message, which is the president has mishandled the campaign. And he has a plan to turn it around. Here's what to look for. First of all, a much more aggressive campaign schedule. Romney has been spending time in more closed fund-raisers than political rallies. That's about to change. Florida today, a three-day bus tour throughout ohio with paul ryan. And a much sharper message in the advertising. Believe it or not, the obama campaign has been outspending the romney campaign pretty dramatically over the last few weeks. That was a surprise. But the polls right now are so hard to read. You read some that suggest a one-point race, a tied race. The others show president obama pulling away. Reporter: Just yesterday, you had three major polls come out. Two of the polls showed obama with just a one-point lead. That's a statistical tie. And another poll showed an eight-point lead for the president. The view from boston, from romney headquarters, this is not as bad as it looks. This remains a very close race. But believe me, they know they have ground to make up. One thing they're not going to script on, debate prep. They know october 3rd the big day. They see that as the biggest day of this campaign. Jon karl, thanks very much. We're going to show president obama on univision tonight. Mitt romney last night. President obama tonight, on univision. Elizabeth?
