He drew big crowds over the Thanksgiving weekend and won a key endorsement in Mitt Romney's New Hampshire stronghold. And she's Jon Karl joins us now and Jonathan astonishing political comeback the big question can it last. Well his rivals predict it won't be long before Gingrich self destructs but George with the first votes now just weeks away Newt Gingrich is peaking at the right time. And now he has the endorsement of New Hampshire largest newspaper. It's -- headline every Republican presidential candidate wants most and important endorsement of all in New Hampshire a conservative union leader newspaper I thought it was pretty. Pretty clear that the guy who really stands out from the crowd. Business didn't -- it's the latest sign that Gingrich is back. Just ask his rival. A month ago. For Newt Gingrich to have been in the running to capture the the Manchester union leader endorsement would have been unthinkable. Gingrich's rise has surprised just about every one just -- the Democrat. Once fought -- mightily against him in the 1990s. I think he's doing well just because he's taken -- people are -- -- Ideas it makes some sense. Gingrich's surged to the top of the polls and a few short weeks almost entirely because of debates that while the other candidates that beat up on one another -- you -- -- -- -- -- did not pay her Gingrich instead has attacked the press I have yet. Harrison reporter ask a single Occupy Wall Street person and single rational question about the economy could actually win. Gingrich's new front runner status and -- -- new attention to his controversial past missed three marriages nearly two million dollars New York from the failed mortgage company Freddie Mac. And most recently his position on allowing some illegal immigrants to stay in the US. It's going to be very very hard to get the American people to read there was a -- of those families and expelled. Gingrich -- union leader endorsement is especially bad for Mitt Romney. Because it plays big in New Hampshire the state Romney has essentially adopted as -- as a second home. Gingrich meanwhile is off to South Carolina today kicking off a three day. -- -- George and John now Gingrich has to basically put the put his whole campaign organization back together they all left him when he bottomed out. Back in the summer but over the last week money's coming in volunteers coming. Absolutely he's open up new offices in Iowa he now has organizations in Iowa New Hampshire and South Carolina. Where essentially he was left for dead as you remember over the summer basically the entire staff -- at the same time John the White House and Democrats still seem to think the Mitt Romney is the real threat early this morning they're releasing a new -- -- a few key battleground states. Directly taking on Romney. Yeah and George -- It -- that this is basically a direct response to Romney's first television ad in New Hampshire which targeted Obama's while you have. All this positioning going on in the Republican primary. Romney is essentially already campaigning against Obama and it's clear that the Democrats. Have seen ignore all are saying that Romney is the -- and ultimately be running against their starting now -- are -- -- impression I was friends they don't -- -- seriously yet. We'll see in the next -- would -- thanks very much.
