Transcript for Natalie Coughlin: Most-Decorated American Female Swimmer
all the swimmers in london. Certainly, michael phelps, becoming the most decorated american olympian. But he's not the only one of the all-time greats on the swimming team. Swimming great, natalie coughlin, a remarkable milestone. Adding another medal to make it an even dozen for her across three olympics. She holds the title of the most decorated female swimmer. You hear the numbers. And it seems like almost hard to believe. An even dozen now. How are you feeling? I'm feeling pretty good. I'm feeling pretty good. I'm very proud of my bronze here in london. It's been a crazy ride. But looking back, I'm very proud of each of those 12 medals. You've been a part of some powerhouse women's teams over the last three olympics. Arguably, none stronger than this. Rebecca soni, to missy franklin. What do you think? This is probably the deepest swim's team I've been a part of. As a whole, the american team has really surprised ourselves, as well as the rest of the world because not only are the big stars doing well. But the up-and-comers are getting on the podium. And it's been very, very exciting. You know, turning to the men, of course, we heard a lot about michael phelps and how phenomenal he's been. And ryan lochte coming in. I know nathan adrian, a good friend of yours. These are some of the names we didn't know, that come in here and have those olympic moments that we'll never forget. Yeah. Nathan adrian winning the gold medal in the 100 free was unbelievable. The last 15 meters, I was like punching the guy next to me because I was cheering so much. And I was so excited for nathan. You know, he's a teammate of mine at home. And he's a teammate here on the u.S. Team. And we're very good friends. So, I was so, so happy for him. Here you are. Three olympics down. What are your plans after this one? Well, I'm empowering the next generation of u.S. Swimmers by partnering with bmw. And they have this great technology that provides quantitative feedback with the underwater dolphin kick. As you have seen in most of our races is very, very important. It gives you so much potential to set up your speed. So, this is the first time there's actual data analysis because typically we just watch film. And a bunch of coaches give their opinions. This is the first time there's actual data how to improve your dolphin kick. It's really exciting stuff. A recreational swimmer myself, I'm amazed at what you do each and every year. Natalie coughlin, one of the most decorated olympians in this country. We appreciate the time this morning. Congratulations. I have to say, hope to see you in rio in 2016. Thank you very much.
