Five days until the oscars. We have been talking about it. I know. But this morning we want to take a look at some of the nominees and their move to stardom. This year's women of oscars are taking the silver screen and the red carpets by storm. But before the glitsz and the glamour, they all had to start somewhere. We know Amy Adams can carry a tune from her spellbinding turn in "Enchanted" ♪ a happy working song ♪ Reporter: But Adams was singing long before she was famous. ♪ Got free checking with no minimum ♪ Reporter: Her very first on-screen appearance, a "Grease!" Inspired commercial for a bank. ♪ Tell me more ♪ Reporter: While Adams' costumes were defying the laws of physics, fell know nominee Sandra bullock was defying "Gravity" this year. What go I do? Reporter: In 1982 it was her pom-poms that were up in the air. Back when she was in high school as a cheerleader in Arlington, Virginia. Hi, mom, hi, dad. I love you. Reporter: In 1989 she showed her acting strength and then some as the bionic girl. In 1990 she landed the lead in the sitcom version of "Working girl." I am. What? I went, my god, this girl is either going to leave the business or become a big star. Reporter: You could tell right away sitcoms were not the right fit for sapdz? Not the sitcoms at that time, no. That's pleasant. Reporter: From "August: Osage county" to smyrna, Georgia, this "Pretty woman" originally wanted to be a vet but then Julia Roberts followed her brother Eric into acting heating up the screen in parts in '80s shows like "Crime story." Mom, I don't like you being out half the night. Reporter: And "Miami vice." Okay, I'm not a morning person. Now I know. Reporter: So does this teen look familiar? That's Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence. At 14 she got her S.A.G.D car for this commercial in my super sweet 16. Other TV roles followed and then a series regular on bill engva engvall's sitcom. The minute she walked in the audition room, she caught your eye. Mom is way worse. She's a screamer and a repeater. A repeater. You know, hit the brakes, hit the brake, hit the brakes. She has that certain something. That is for sure. You can see much more on our "Countdown to the oscars" special. It airs Thursday, February 27th at 8:00 P.M. Eastern and we will be on the red carpet for red carpet live. That airs Oscar Sunday starting at 7:00 eastern, 4:00 pacific followed by the oscars with Ellen DeGeneres right here on ABC.
