Hey, "Pop news" and I want to start by honoring the one and only Billy Joel. Joining the ranks of music royalty, the Long Island native becomes the next recipient for the gershwin prize. The award is presented by the United States library of congress and the library officials say this was an easy decision calling Joel a storyteller of the highest order. Past recipients include Paul Mccartney, Stevie wonder and Carole king. Good company. Yeah. Great company and just thrilled to share that with you. He is a gift to the music world. In other music news, a tree planted in Los Angeles in memory of one of the beatles has been killed by beetles. Oh, no. Terrible case of irony. The George Harrison memorial tree planted after his death in 2001 grew to be more than 12 feet tall but like so many trees in the area, the beatle tree as it was called has fallen victim to a bark beetle infestation. A new pine tree will be planted in honor of Harrison after the drought and fire season in hopes that the beetles will "Let it about." Ding, ding, ding. . A lot of poetry there. Poetry in motion. If you're feeling the heat do not blame ginger. Today it's the New York City firefighters' fault. Today marks the release of their annual calendar in which new York's bravest leave their coats behind and risk their lives to make each month more fiery than the next. In honor of this, the 20th anniversary of the calendar there are 175 firefighters featured inside. I had not noticed. A rich perspective of all the years they have done this good deed. So many ways because the proceeds go to the Staten island university burn center. And we want to say thank you to the firefighters. Thank you. Thank you for what you do. Thank you. Thank you so much for everything you do. Not only for the calendar, which is a lovely read, could also save lives on the line. I don't know if you noticed. The cover boy. Wow. The cover guy. We're here for, you know, to raise money for the Staten island burn center and been doing it for 20 years and hopefully this year will be the best. Tomorrow -- tonight at Sophia's, 5:00. Everybody, come on down in they came here today. This is the official release. Less than $20 and such -- great money well spent. Shall we?
