Transcript for President Obama Considered Dropping Biden for 2012 Ballot
And the revelation that the obama campaign secretly considered bypassing joe biden as president obama's running mate in the 2012 election, in favor of hillary clinton. Jon karl has that from washington. Good morning, jon. Reporter: Good morning, robin. The idea of replacing joe biden with hillary clinton was the subject of endless political speculation in the early days of the campaign. And this soon-to-be released book, says some of the top advisers actually talked about doing it. It's the dream team many democrats started wishing for, even before barack obama won the nomination in 2008. Obama chose joe biden instead and did just fine. But as the president was gearing up for re-election, a sluggish economy and bad poll numbers had at least some of his top advisers thinking it might be time to play the hillary card. Biden had dodged the bullet he never saw coming and would never know anything about. Bill daley who was obama's chief of staff at the time, confirmed the account. But david plouffe said obama himself never considered the idea. Never ever, any consideration of v.P./Hrc switch. Not even entertained by the only person who mattered. The book delves into the president's sometimes strained relationship with bill clinton. And says when the two were brought together for a round of golf in 2011, they couldn't even get through all 18 holes. And the president said to an aide after they played, I like him, in doses. Robin? Okay, jon. Thanks. George will have much more on
