seats for that. First, we want to get to the severe weather. A storm front wreaking havoc from Illinois all the way to Alabama and it is on the move. It is. We are looking at a current radar so you can see the impressive lightning strikes all the way from Virginia really down to the Florida panhandle. Severe thunderstorm watch from Tallahassee up through western South Carolina, so we've got a lot to talk about this morning but look what happened just hours ago in Alabama. Northern Alabama we've got ft. Payne, pictures of twisted semis some thrown on top of buildings all part of more than 300 severe weather reports including 13 tornadoes reported in Illinois, one of them in mechanicsburg, Illinois where Alex Perez this morning with all the stunning pictures. Alex. Reporter: Well, good morning, ginger. The winds still howling. That brief warm-up across the midwest yesterday came at a big price, I want you to take a look here, the strong winds here overnight basically ripped this storage building completely to shreds. A terrifying and rare sight. Wintertime twisters tearing through Illinois and early this morning in Alabama, this semi trailer picked up and slammed into the side of a building. Emergency workers are still assessing the damage. A number of people taken to the hospital. Tornadoes this far north are rare at this time of year and double trouble in a region where snow is still on the ground. Just a few miles from one reported twister in Concord, Illinois, this fiery 20-car pileup on a snow-slicked road. And as lightning struck in Nashville, in Rochester, Minnesota, a cell phone transformer blowing up in the snowstorm. Heavy winds blew this semi right off the road. In plymouth, Michigan, heavy snow and ice collapsed this man's garage. We'll be back tomorrow to start cutting it all apart. Reporter: In Oklahoma City wind gusts in excess of 60 miles per hour. It's crazy. Reporter: Slamming shopping carts into car after car. In Huron county, Michigan, crews using dynamite to break up ice dams on this river and prevent flooding. Finally in Minneapolis, blizzard conditions hampering roads and runways. At minneapolis/st. Paul airport, the snow falling so fast, crews couldn't keep up. So the cleanup here hasn't even started yet but the good news is there are no reports of any injuries, but the weather roller coaster not done just yet, the midwest now bracing for plunging temperatures and return of the bitter cold. You're so right. Often in the spring these types of tornado outbreaks then and severe weather outbreaks followed by severe cold. From southern New Jersey all the way to Jacksonville, Florida, that too has to be on alert. Damaging wind, hail and isolated tornadoes. Such a large portion like that. All right, thank you, ginger.
