Reporter: The mother of three was in a coma for days. The bullet that destroyed her eye lodged in her lung. Remarkably, just a month later, she walked into court to face her husband, frank howard. Prosecutors say the successful accountant who sang in his church's choir had a secret life. And allegedly paid a series of hitmen $100,000 to off his wife so he could be with his mistress in california. Howard admits to the affair but denies he wanted his wife dead. He's pleaded not guilty to criminal solicitation. It's the theater of the absurd that the police are buying into. Yes, of course. We got not guilty he will move on with his life. Reporter: A life he hopes will still include his wife. Frank howard wore his wedding ring to the divorce hearing. And his attorney dropped this bombshell. They have three, beautiful children. Reporter: Along with those criminal and now marital problems, frank howard is also facing some professional problems. A defense contractor he once worked for has sued him. Saying that he stole millions of their dollars from a contract in the middle east, all money he allegedly used to finance his secret life.
