travel nightmare for hundreds of passengers finally home after their flight from london to new york was forced to make an emergency landing in a remote corner of canada stranded all night long and david kerley has the details. Reporter: They are home this morning but they're a for these more than 250 passengers, an eight-hour flight became a 27-hour nightmare. Thankful to be no new york. Reporter: It was saturday afternoon that virgin atlantic flight took off from london's heathrow set to arrive at new york's jfk just before midnight on saturday. Reporter: So an emergency landing in newfoundland, safe but the passengers were stuck, a broken plane and ni hao tells forced to sleep on chairs, benches, anywhere. People were sleeping on the floor of the bathroom and on the counters in the ballotroom all over the floor in the airport. Reporter: Hours passed, frustrated passengers took to twitter and matt roberts wrote "patience wore out 2e7b hours ago. Please get your story straight." Another, "been sitting only yell yum floor in gandhi for hours now and plane hasn't left." Virgin tweeted "unfortunately, hotels are full." I had never experienced anything like that so that was quite an ordeal for me. Reporter: This morning the airline is of 0ing a round trip ticket to passengers and added in a statement overnight an apology for any inconvenience caused. An inconvenience, an ordeal that finally ended with a two-hour plus flight 214 on a replacement plane delivering them to jfk sunday night at 7:00, nearly a full day late.
