Question: Can I learn guided imagery techniques on my own or do I need to see a practitioner?

Answer: Some great guided imagery exercises are part of standard meditation protocols, many of which can be learned alone or in low cost group settings. We like the techniques that are part of mindfulness based stress reduction because this approach has been studied and shown to be effective. There are several terrific books and websites on mindfulness and the imagery techniques are paired with other helpful techniques, like relaxed breathing, to maximize the helpful potential.
