Question: What is the prognosis for Alzheimer's disease?

Answer: I think the prospect for research in Alzheimer's disease is actually quite bright. We're on the threshold of making significant contributions now to treating the underlying cause of the disease.

As soon as we are able to develop effective treatments, I think people will live longer lives with a much higher quality of life -- and the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease will not be played out in the manner of which they are today.
