Answer: It most certainly is covered by insurance. Genetic testing is rarely denied by insurances. There may be co-pays or deductibles that the parents will be responsible for, but there's very few cases where the coverage is denied. More important and positive factor in our current state of healthcare in our country, is that recently the Congress passed the law, which was signed by the President that prohibits the discrimination against genetic information by employers and insurers. That is quite empowering, and it should encourage parents to come out and get their children tested more.
