Aug. 24, 2009— -- Question: Are there certain people who should not wear contact lenses?

Answer: Well, it's important for people to realize that contact lenses are medical devices and certain people that have problems with the cornea or the surface of the eye potentially would not be candidates to wear these medical devices. Such examples would include people who have had infections in the cornea where there's scarring or people whose corneas are not healthy because of an underlying problem with some of the cells in the cornea. These people might not benefit from wearing contact lenses and might actually be harmed by using these devices.
