Aug. 24, 2009— -- Question: Some lubricating eye drops are thicker than others. Does it matter how thick they are?

Answer: The thickness of the eye drop over the years has been changing. Frequently the really thick drops can blur your vision. And that side effect is not very well tolerated by a lot of patients. So you want a drop that lasts a long time, which the thicker ones do, but without any of the blurring that it can sometimes cause.

Some of the newer ones can actually last quite long without the blurring effect and your eye doctor can recommend specific brands.
