— -- Question: What are the benefits and potential complications that can be expected from a CRT device for heart failure?

Answer: The biventricular pacer, or the CRT device, used for reestablishing synchrony has significant advantages. In patients who have a lot of symptoms of heart failure, like shortness of breath or not being able to walk very far, it can make patients feel much better. There are relatively few risks associated with implanting the device. It's the same risks that one would have if they had a pacemaker implanted. There are risks of infection, there are also risks of some pain, but those generally are easily managed. Once the device is underneath the skin and in the heart, there are relatively few risks associated with it.
