We completed the largest clinical trial in clinical depression in real practice settings for primary care and specialty care that included 4,000 patients.
What we found was that patients with clinical depression presenting for care, a third of the patients will achieve full symptom remission with the first treatment, another third will achieve remission with the second step, and by the time you've tried four treatment steps, almost two-thirds of the patients will achieve a full symptom-free status -- clearly suggesting that we should start treatment for depression aggressively and continue until you get full relief.
