— -- Breast MRI today is an important part in the diagnostic workup for women with breast cancer.

Data, to date, has shown that there is an increased ability to detect cancers in women with dense breasts and women who are at high risk. Additionally it helps in the increased ability to stage the patient.

Certainly for women who are at high risk, it has been shown to be a better alternative than screening mammography. In addition it has an increased ability to detect ductile carcinoma in situ.
