— -- The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center prides itself on providing state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary care to women with all phases of breast cancer, as well as those who are at risk. But it prides itself even more on the opportunity for women to participate in trials that are looking at ground-breaking research going from the lab to the clinic and back to the lab.

Our areas of particular expertise include: epigenetic markers (markers that might be important in defining breast cancer risk), epigenetic therapies (new therapies that might target these important changes in cancers), as well as novel ways of trying to think about delivering therapy -- immunologic therapy (vaccine therapy against breast cancer, in conjunction with common therapies), the delivery of breast cancer agents into the duct of the breast, to try to minimize problems within the duct related to breast cancer.

All of these are areas that have developed in our laboratories, have come into clinical trials in patients, and we hope that these are going to be advances that we will take into the 21st century of breast cancer treatment.
