— -- At the University of Kentucky Comprehensive Breast Care Center, over the last ten years we have utilized a multidisciplinary approach to the management of breast cancer, in which all the various disciplines treating breast cancer are present in one location.

This allows us to diagnose and create treatment plans for the patients on a single visit. This has significantly helped overall in the management of breast cancer patients.

Some of the recent advances in imaging have been digital mammography and MRI, which have significantly helped in increasing the diagnosis and determining the extent of disease.

With regard to systemic therapy, Herceptin has been the most important finding recently.

Dr. Ed Romond is a national leader in those studies and this has provided significant improvement in patients who otherwise had significant poorer prognosis.
