Transcript for Estrogen Therapy Brings More Benefits Than Risks
All medications have risks and benefits and you're always -- -- risks and benefits. And a hormone replacement therapy with estrogen and is is no different. And so the first thing I'm gonna ask myself for any patient in here were talking about women who've had a hysterectomy. Who want to take hormone therapy and why do they want to take it they wanna take because there having. Menopausal symptoms typically hot flashes and night -- and those are bothersome enough for them to take hormone therapy. And when they take that they've got to know what the risk of that medication is. And the Women's Health Initiative -- -- given us a lot of information about the risks of stroke. Heart attack and breast cancer. And this study is reassuring. In that it shows that the risk of breast cancer is not increased in women to get estrogen. And so I would be confident in telling my patient that this is something that she does not have to be worried about increasing her risk of breast cancer.
