Pistorius Releases Statement on Eve of Girlfriend’s Death
— -- Oscar Pistorius, the esteemed athlete accused in the Valentine's Day shooting of his model girlfriend, released a statement Thursday, saying that he will carry the "complete trauma" of the day for the rest of his life.
Friday marks the anniversary of the death of Reeva Steenkamp.
He posted:
14 February 2014 No words can adequately capture my feelings about the devastating accident that has caused such heartache for everyone who truly loved - and continues to love Reeva.
The pain and sadness – especially for Reeva’s parents, family and friends consumes me with sorrow.
The loss of Reeva and the complete trauma of that day, I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
The 27-year old who was the first double-amputee to run in the Olympics and the world championships faces trial March 3 in South Africa.
